Percy - 512FJO
1959 Austin A35 (A2S5)
Purchased by Matt Brown on 3rd December 2005, 512FJO also known as Percy was actually our second Austin and is now the car we've owned for the longest, thats 20 years.
It's a 1959 A35 or an A2S5 variant. Originally registered on 13th July 1959 in Oxford then transferred to its first owner Norman D Woods residing at Towcester Police Station on 20th July 1959. Norman was the local bobby in Deanshanger.
It remained under Norman's ownership for almost 1 year and 9 months until 10th April 1961 where it was transferred to a colleague Richard Alan Isham (known as Alan) at Kings Sutton Police Station.
He was the local bobby for Kings Sutton and was known for riding his Police motorcycle, later finishing his Police career at Brackley.
Alan transferred Percy over to Kathleen Thomas on 7th September 1962 who can be seen below pictured with the car back in June 2013. Not only was she one of the original owners, she also lived at the same address on the log book so this photo is of both the present and past owners together at one of its longest kept homes. Kathleen retained ownership until 18th June 1973. Thats 10 years and 9 months.
Percy's next owner was then Joyce Violet Over where we sadly start to loose track of his history until our purchase in 2005. Thats just over 30 years of unknown history of his 64 year lifetime. Joyce is reported as sadly passing away on 10th August 2016 at the John Radcliffe Hospital, aged 89.
Percy was in regular use and appeared at both the 2012 Lichfield rally and 2013 Winchester rally with the Austin A30/A35 Owners' Club.
Percy broke down on the return journey from seeing Kathleen on 16th June 2013, he remained in storage until 14th February 2016 where he went for professional restoration with Matt assisting.
More photographs of Percy can be found here in the archives.
